Email Security and Management

Companies that have 75 users or less can benefit greatly from bundling several of the Microsoft server products into a product geared towards the SMB marketplace- Microsoft Small Business Server.

Xlcon has been implementing SBS solutions dating back to the 2000 product. Because of our proven expertise with this product, our company has been labeled a Microsoft Small Business Specialist by Microsoft. This means that we have a track record of customer successes, as well as, certifications geared directly for this product.

The current product of Microsoft Small Business Server is version 2003. Later this year, version 2008 will be released with enhancements on many of the server products. For more information on that product, please click here

Email Security and Management

Safer e-mail storage - when companies use POP mail, it is typically pulled straight to the desktops, which are not likely backed up. If a desktop’s hard drive fails, that user’s mailbox will be lost and unrecoverable.

Improved accessibility to e-mail - since the e-mail is stored on the server, users will be able to open their mailbox anywhere on the network and anywhere in the world (through Outlook web access).

Administrative control over user’s e-mail - the current setup does not allow administrators to accurately track what is received or sent through e-mail. With Exchange, rights can be granted to allow certain users access over other users accounts. This way outgoing e-mail can be monitored and controlled for inappropriate use.

Improved webmail
- Once mail is pulled down to the local desktop, it is no longer available through webmail. With Outlook Web Access, users can manage their mailbox as if they were using the desktop version of Outlook. All mail, contacts and calendar are available through webmail.

Sharing
- users can choose to give other users access to their information. If so desired, users can allow other users the ability to schedule appointments for them, review their e-mail (if out of the office for example), and share contacts.

Increased security
- the firewall can be configured to only allow e-mails to be delivered from the XRMS Postini service. This greatly reduces the risk of viruses and spam from defeating the Postini service and entering the network.

Ease of user administration
- currently when a user is created, the user must be created on the network and then on the ipower site (for e-mail). With Exchange, active directory handles both tasks so there is only one resource to be created and maintained.

Smartphone Synchronization - users are able to natively synch e-mails, calendars, contacts with any Windows Mobile based device. With additional software, Blackberries can be synched.
